Can a Routine Save a Bad Day?

This week's Page Turner

Hi Reader!

You know those meh days? The ones where you wake up feeling off, unmotivated, and just not in the mood to do anything? I’ve had my fair share, and if I’m being honest, my usual instinct is to sink into it—curl up, scroll mindlessly, and wait for the funk to pass.

But in Add More ~ing to Your Life, Gabrielle Bernstein suggests something different. She argues that the best way to pull yourself out of a bad day isn’t to wait it out—it’s to stick to your routine, even when you don’t feel like it.

This might just be the best advice I took away from this book. My routine isn’t just a checklist—it’s a series of small actions that set the tone for my day. And if I can just get myself to start—whether it’s journaling, stretching, or making my coffee without distractions—it shifts my energy just enough to pull me out of the spiral.

So now, on my meh days, I don’t pressure myself to feel amazing right away—I just commit to doing the next step in my routine. And more often than not? It works.

What about you? Have you ever stuck to a routine on a bad day and felt the shift? Or do you have another go-to strategy for pulling yourself out of a funk? Hit reply and let us know—We’d love to hear your perspective!
